| Question:
Dealing With Curses:
4. Keep free of contamination
Associations with relatives.
Could you explain this further from scripture? Are you suggesting there
be no association with unsaved relatives?
Nancy
Answer:
This is explained in some detail in Chapter Six of the Way of Blessing
Book, or the Online Course. The majority of curses in fact often come,
not from unsaved relatives alone, but from saved relatives who are
operating under a family generational curse. The disassociation which
is taught here refers not so much to physical separation, but to
spiritual separation, or keeping one's spirit free of contamination.
This is accomplished by keeping your heart closed to any influence which
can open the door for the entry of such a curse into your life.
There are only two factors that open the door wide for you to receive a
curse by contamination from another. They are as follows:
1. Opening your heart to another and receiving all that comes
from their spirit without discerning the nature of what you are
receiving.
2. Maintaining a heart of anger or bitterness to another, thus
giving them control over you through the attitude of your heart.
This is a difficult issue for many to accept, and as a result curses are
passed down from generation to generation, and family to family. This
need not be the case, because in Christ we do not need to be subject to
such curses, but are set free by the power of the blood and the word of
our testimony, as it says in
Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb,
and by means of the word of their testimony; and they did not love their
[psuche] lives even if it led to death.(GMR)
The first clear Scripture that speaks of family generational curses and
blessings is
Exodus 20:5 You shall not bow down yourself to them,
nor serve them: for I the LORD [Yahweh] your God [am] a jealous God,
visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third
and fourth [generation] of those that hate me;
6 And showing mercy to thousands of those that love me, and keep my
commandments.
(GMR)
There are also passages in the New Testament that speak of contamination
from others
1 Timothy 5:22 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be
a partaker of other men's sins: keep yourself pure.(GMR)
Hebrews 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of
the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble
[you], and by it many be defiled;(GMR)
These are just a few isolated Scriptures on the subject, but if you wish
to have a full Scriptural layout of the principles involved, we
recommend that you order the Way of Blessing Book or enroll in the Way
of Blessing Course. You will be given plenty of Scripture to explain
the principles involved.
